EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

Emergency and Intensive Care Services
Open 24 hours a day, every day, the Emergency Department at Cleveland Regional Medical Center has been designated as North Carolina's first Level III Trauma Center. This designation means that the Emergency Department is equipped and staffed to handle all emergency situations. And, through its comprehensive partnership with Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C., there is immediate medical consultation and, if needed, immediate helicopter transport services for patients needing very specialized care.

Our Emergency Department has the latest in modern diagnostic equipment and offers a vast array of treatment options. For patients requiring intensive care, services are provided within the medical center in specially equipped units. Both the Intensive Care Unit and step-down Progressive Care Unit are staffed by highly skilled physicians, nurses and support personnel who use the latest monitoring and treatment equipment.

Ground ambulance service, provided by Cleveland County Emergency Medical Services, offers rapid response and well-trained support personnel to this facility.

Patient/Family Support Specialists
Patient/Family Support Specialists are patient advocates who serve as liaisons between patients/families and hospital and medical staff. Their primary role is to make the CRMC experience more comfortable and satisfying for patients and their friends and families. Patient advocates assist patients and their families with questions regarding personal needs and hospital procedure. They also assist patients in resolving issues and concerns patients and their families may have. Patient advocates can be reached at 980-487-3923 or by paging them at 704-471-7042. They are available to offer their services to patients seven days a week.
